Nu Sass is celebrating 15 years of creating art and opportunities in DC!

What’s in store?

  • We’re going back to our roots, and producing our first play ever - Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead - with the next generation of Nu Sass artists.

  • We’re presenting the DC premiere of the hit new play The Pliant Girls by Meghan Brown as a co-production with Theatre Prometheus.

  • We’re highlighting our company of artists with a new take on one of our favorite plays, A Bright Room Called Day. A co-production between Nu Sass Productions and Pinky Swear Productions, this show will star several original cast members and two 2024 DC Art Fellows.

  • We’ll be holding several birthday parties throughout the year to help raise funds for this epic season featuring over 100 local artists and professionals. You don’t want to miss them!

Check back here for information on auditions, hiring, tickets, and more!

OUR 2024 SEASON NEEDS YOUR HELP

We are co-producing with Pinky Swear Productions to present a revival of A Bright Room Called Day, co-producing with Theatre Prometheus to present the DC premiere of The Pliant Girls, and going back to our roots with a new take on Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead.

All together we will hire over local 100 artists to bring these three amazing shows together.

This kind of celebration and growth doesn't come cheap and we hope you’ll help us with a gift to celebrate our first 15 years, and the decades more to come!

You can be the change you want to see in the world by supporting the amazing humans of Nu Sass today.
Together we’re changing the face (and gender makeup) of DC theatre!

Thank you to the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and the Greater Washington Community Foundation for grants helping jump start the year for us!

REVIEWS

REVIEWS FOR THE OREO COMPLEX

The lines come fast and sometimes frantically, but there is a captivating rhythm and mellifluousness from the minute she defines 'oreo.' - DC Theatre Arts

Brown has crafted an emotional masterpiece and every moment is executed expertly…a sobering tour-de-force and one that everyone should see. - MD Theatre Guide

The Oreo Complex is a compelling portrayal of internalized segregation, and a celebration of Black ancestors. - DC Theatre Arts

REVIEWS FOR FINDING NEIL PATRICK HARRIS

“What follows are Katie and Cha-Cha’s misadventures as they attempt to follow through with Lucio’s final wish, while getting on each other’s nerves. In the process, there’s some taboo-breaking comedy, mime, and some funny slapstick wrestling between Katie and Cha-Cha (the small venue always makes the action fun).” - City Paper

“In the interest of not diminishing one single comic bit in Hoke's play (and there certainly are at least 3 per minute except during the monologues), this review has devoutly neglected referring to the plot. Nu Sass' production of Finding Neil Patrick Harris is fun and funny; don't take it from me. Take it from them, through June 9.” - Broadway World

“Wannabe comics on a caper in Finding Neil Patrick Harris at Nu Sass” - DC Theatre Arts

Delivered with a grounded cadence and sincere energy, McAllister will delight with her attentive connection to her imaginary magical acts as she makes you laugh, makes you feel, and along with her character, makes you hope that magic can save love. - Theatre Bloom

A woman creates a heartrending magic show to trace her relationship with her girlfriend — and it hits hard. - DC Theatre Arts
