AUDITION FOR NU SASS

  • Nu Sass works to support marginalized genders in the arts in DC, and works to provide a safe, accessible working space for our team. We are proud to be an entry point into professional theatre for those often denied access to do age, race, gender, or sexuality.

Rehearsals: Evening and weekends, based on availability, no more than 3 times a week before tech. Holidays off.
Performance Dates: TBD, opening after Labor Day, closing before Halloween.Understudies/Swings will have guaranteed performances.
Performance Location: 1100 H St NW, Washington, DC (Metro Center). ADA accessible.


NU SASS SEEKS THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS

  • Leads will receive an $800 stipend.

  • Understudies/Swings will receive a $550 stipend

  • We can only accept non-equity applicants

  • We are accepting video submissions and in person auditions.

MAGGIE – An African American femme in her early 20’s.
HALEY –A femme in her early 20’s. Maggie’s more supportive friend.
ROBIN – A young Latinx femme in her early 20’s. Maggie’s more direct friend.
BOBBI – A client in their 30’s
DAVE – An older male client
JAY/NED – Clients in their 20’s
GARY – A white man in his 40’s

CASTING NOTES
Maggie was written for an African American woman and Gary was written with an older White
American in mind. Maggie’s clients were written with gender specific pronouns, but the
playwright highly encourages different genders and ethnicities for all of Maggie’s clients except
for Gary.
