Nu Sass is exited to be presenting the second installment in our Small Batch Audience Series. 20 lucky audience members will join us at Caos on F during the 15 performances of Jean Paul Sartre's acclaimed play No Exit. Tickets are on sale now!
theatreWashington's theatreWatch labels Nu Sass "one of Washington's most promising emerging theatre companies".
The Washington Post declares our "juicy and arresting production" of No Exit infectious, where the "existential angst is palpable".
DC Metro Theatre Arts states "Nu Sass deserves and earns plaudits for its very nifty No Exit... a tight, tough, far from an academically dry concoction of post-war existential literature..."
DC Theatre Scene proclaims "While the intimate staging idea is not new, it is rarely practiced to this degree and feels electric and bold." while lauding the No Exit as the second installment of the Small Batch Audience Series.
Inspired by the Tiny House Plays (Pinky Swear Productions) and Dream Within A Dream (Through the 4th Wall), the Nu Sass Producers developed the SBAS to create intimate spaces for audiences to be completely immersed in the world of the play from the second they enter the building. Certainly this is not a new idea to the theatre world, but one feature that Nu Sass is very interested in pursuing is limiting the number of audience members in each performance. This not only allows the show to happen in smaller, more authentic spaces, but also develops a sense of immediacy and intimacy for both the artists and the audience. As such, the SBAS spotlights “living room plays”, or plays that will take place in a single room the entire show. Nu Sass is excited for the chance to create what they envision to be “a living room with just too many chairs”, where the audience is there with the characters, witnessing the highs and lows from the same perspective.
Join us in the lead up to the 2015 holiday season to discover exactly where the phrase "Hell is other people" came from.
